The Voluspa Project began in late 2007 as a short film that would showcase Codename V’s film style, and work as a show reel. Since then, it has grown from 5 pages to over 400 pages of material, spanning planned feature films, short films, novels and graphic novels as well as a video game concept.

The series attempts to create a very loose modern adaptation of ancient mythology. The tale is completely original, but incorporates characters, events, and artefacts from Norse mythology in a contemporary way.

The first volumes introduce the world, one torn apart by a global war, whilst the sequels delve into something bigger even that a new world war; a global threat that could wipe out the entire human race for all eternity.

The volumes are not separate tales but chapters in a greater story that all come together to reveal itself. It is far too big for just one film. It incorporates the Action/ War/Horror and Fantasy genres. The only other series to attempt something as large in scale and over as many different formats is ‘The Matrix’ series, and we feel our tale would dwarf even that if given the opportunity.

As Codename V is based in Melbourne, Australia, investment hasn’t been easy to acquire. A project as commercial as ours, being a genre film, with no true links to Australian culture or heritage (it’s a global tale) makes it almost impossible to receive financing from local governmental bodies. As this is the case, we decided to attempt to make the first volume (Niflheim) on a completely independently raised budget, in the vain of ‘Gabriel’.

Niflheim: Blood & Bullets entered pre-production in 2008. In December of that same year we began a two-week shooting schedule on location in Melbourne, Australia. Shot entirely in HD on a HVX-200. The shoot went successfully, but due to budget constraints the entire film could not be shot, the film is currently a little over half completed. With the footage that we have already acquired, several trailers have been cut, alongside a publicity kit, which we, at Codename V will attempt to ‘shop’ around the global film market. The trailers were released March 3rd, 2009.

If the film does pick up interest, then we hope to be able to finish the first feature by the end of 2009. If successful, two additional feature scripts, both continuations, are ready to begin pre-production. If you would like to know more about either the Voluspa Project or Niflheim, please don’t hesitate to send your questions to Secrettruth@gmail.com, or check out our Trailers via the Niflheim section, or via our Youtube, Facebook, or Myspace pages.
